Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.

As the days grow short, some faces grow long.

For me, having greek yogurt and some granola is the perfect start-up breakfast because it has many benefits. Its filling, healthy and gives me energy to start my day.

If I don't run for a few days, I feel like my insides are dirty.

The run kind of scrubs my veins and arteries, and then all starts to feel right with the world. I'm not one of those fanatical people that if I miss a run, I go nuts. But when it's something you love, you make sure you have the time to do it.

And I figured out that the reason I couldn't get through the day as well as I can now is because I had too many things on my mind, on my plate, you know, for one person to have. So I started to eliminate some of the things that were too heavy to carry and unnecessary.

All success in life, whether material or spiritual, starts with the thoughts that you put into your mind every second of every minute of every day. Your outer world reflects the state of your inner world. By controlling the thoughts that you think and the way you respond to the events of your life, you begin to control your destiny.

The smallest of disciplines, practiced every day, start an incredible process that can change our lives forever.

Some people are amazed at my brain, but really it's nothing.

Baloney. We were sharper after 47 days than the day we started because our minds were empty of all the war and contamination; we had clean minds to fill with good thoughts. Every day we'd exercise our minds.

Grief starts to become indulgent, and it doesn't serve anyone, and it's painful.

But if you transform it into remembrance, then you're magnifying the person you lost and also giving something of that person to other people, so they can experience something of that person.

I am not concerned with simply surviving.

I am very concerned about improving. I start each day by examining yesterday's work and looking for areas where I can improve. I am always trying to draw the characters better, and trying to design each panel somewhat in the manner a painter would treat his canvas.

I like to start the day early, it keeps me out of trouble.

Think about every problem, every challenge, we face. The solution to each starts with education.

The only thing I ever really wanted was a Strat .

. I started playing guitar after seeing Jimi Hendrix on TV the day he died...then I got Deep Purples' Fireball album which was also a big influence .. I have a collection of more than 200 of them that includes Strats from every year since March 1954 - the first month the Strat was made

..only by a spiritual journey...by which we arrive at the ground at our feet, and learn to be at home. The ultimate lesson all of us have to learn is unconditional love, which includes not only others but ourselves as well.

Everything happens for a reason and, of course at times it's very discouraging, but at the end of the day you can't take it personally and move onward because if you let it sit with you, then it starts to eat away at you and you're allowing someone else to steal your excitement. No one wants that.

Don't feel sorry for yourself. Only arseholes do that.

Start each day in my peace and stillness, then you can go forth and face whatever the day may bring in perfect peace and joy.

If people can just love each other a little bit, they can be so happy.

I had a huge advantage when I started 50 years ago - my job was secure.

I didn't have to promote myself. These days there's far more pressure to make a mark, so the temptation is to make adventure television or personality shows. I hope the more didactic approach won't be lost.

I think, back in the day, when I was first starting to make music, all I wanted to do was to get a record deal.

As long as the heart beats, as long as body and soul keep together, I cannot admit that any creature endowed with a will has need to despair of life.

To go against the dominant thinking of your friends, of most of the people you see every day, is perhaps the most difficult act of heroism you can perform.
