Ted Lewis could make the clarinet talk. What it said was put me back in the case!

Remarkable Ted Talks quotations

I look at myself more as a storyteller than a screenwriter, as pretentious as that may sound, but that's what really attracts me to TED Talks. For me, the really effective ones are being presented by expert storytellers.

Some people think I'm unhappy, but I'm not. I just appreciate silence in a world that never stops talking.

I'd hate to see something like this get in his way, but a lot of people are talking about it and I know that even some states are looking at it very strongly, that the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and he has a double passport.

One guy that I wish was here right now, Ted Williams, helped me so much, our long talks, not about hitting but about fishing, one of Ted's passions, and I wish he was here today to share this with me because I owe so much to Ted Williams.

When I was at McGill medical school, there was a writer, Ted Rosenthal, who used to write for the New York Times - tragically he died of leukemia at a very young age. He talked about how we can have an opportunity to live a lifetime in a moment, in a day, in a month, in a year - when you're confronted with the finite reality of your own existence, all these moments become lifetimes.

The reason I wrote Lean In is I think people weren't actually noticing that we had stopped making progress. I gave a TED talk and said: "It turns out men still run the world." And the audience gasped as if that was news.

I think really the thing you should focus on is why you're for Ted Cruz, 'cause that's I think probably much more persuasive. If you're trying to change people's minds about Donald Trump, tell 'em why you're for Cruz, 'cause you're not gonna talk a Trumpist out of it. And the reason you're not gonna talk a Trumpist out of it is because they're feeling something really good, and they don't want to let go of that.

I saw the first one [video with Hans Rosling ] when he did - I think it was his first one - in 2006, a TED Talk. And for the first time in my life, I thought here's someone who can take statistics that most people regard as dull and boring and bring it alive.

What's important to me is that I put messages out, whether it's a TED talk, whether it's a book.

[I talk politics with Ted Turner] quite often.

Usually with a great deal of excitement, because he has one political view and I have another. Despite our politics,we've agreed to be friends.

People are taking a closer look at Donald Trump.

I think the best look they got was at the last debate. I think Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio prosecuted their case effectively. Donald doesn't have some great answers. When they talk, for instance, about immigration and releasing those tapes from The New York Times, we began talking about flexibility and immigration.

If you talk about people that lie, this Ted Cruz, this is the biggest liar I've ever seen.

Someone asked me very recently why I have 8 million views on TED - "your work resonates, what are you doing?" What I think my contribution is, what I do well, is I name experiences that are very universal that no one really talks about. That's the researcher in me; that's really part of being a grounded theory researcher - putting names to concepts and experiences that people have. That's the researcher part.

I`ve heard this theory that this is basically Jeb`s [Bush] people trying to get their supporters to basically put the stake in Marco Rubio because if people are talking about accepting [Donald] Trump over [Ted] Cruz, what they`re really saying is Marco Rubio`s no longer viable.

Let`s talk conspiracy theories here. All of a sudden today - first of all, it`s the hunger games at this point. All these people, establishment people, whether it`s Bob Dole or others saying yes - you know, Orrin Hatch saying actually, I`d take [Donald] Trump over [Ted]Cruz.

The first thing we did was to proclaim our Liverpoolness to the world, and say 'It's all right to come from Liverpool and talk like this'. Before, anybody from Liverpool who made it, like Ted Ray, Tommy Handley, Arthur Askey, had to lose their accent to get on the BBC.

I didn't really - at least intellectually and creatively - have a particularly compelling experience in college. But during my junior year, they made the TED talks public. So I started listening to them. They were producing one per day, and I was listening to one per day, every day, at the gym.

I feel like great TED Talks are ones that are a little bit subject to interpretation, that do provoke further conversation - and potentially controversy.
