The real community of man, in the midst of all the self-contraditory simulacra of community, is the community of those who seek the truth, of potential knowers... of all men to the extent that they know.
What we want is not freedom but its appearances.
It is for these simulacra that man has always striven. And since freedom, as has been said, is no more than a sensation, what difference is there between being free and believing ourselves free?
The only freedom supposed to be left to the masses is that of grazing on the ration of simulacra the system distributes to each individual.
